Vermont Smoke and Cure crafts ‘damn fine smoked meats that thrill customers so that we can create opportunities for farmers -- by providing processing services (not much point in raising a pig if you can’t get bellies smoked and turned into bacon!) and by creating products from meats raised by Vermont and surrounding area farmers. We continually work to excel at creating the safest, most delicious products efficiently by engaging our employees in achieving success.

All are located in our Hinesburg facility.

Brand Ambassador
Part-time Tasting and Event Demonstrator

At Vermont Smoke and Cure (VSC), we take pride in crafting our meats in small batches, using methods and ingredients traditional here in Vermont.  We brine our bacon and ham with local Vermont maple syrup and spices before naturally smoking the meat with sweet, mild smoke from ground corn cobs and chipped maple wood.

We ‘Keep Vermont Farmers Smokin’ by providing meat processing services to our backyard and small farmer customers and by purchasing Vermont Grown meats when we’re able.  It is our honor and mission to keep small scale, artisan processing available to all.

As our Brand Ambassador in Vermont and nearby areas, you will share our values with the public and encourage them to taste our world-class products and purchase them to share with family and friends.

As a tasting demonstrator during in-store demos, you will be responsible for presenting our products to customers and store staff, encouraging them to taste and educating them about our products.  The goal of a demo is sales of our products on tasting day and whenever those customers return to the store, and exposing store staff to our products and company so that they can knowledgeably help sell our products.  Tastings as part of events add variety and fun to the position and have similar goals as in-store demos for VSC.

The position requires energy, a positive social outgoing nature, excellent customer service skills and ability to convey a sincere passion for Vermont Smoke and Cure products. 

-    Outgoing and well spoken, able to communicate what sets VSC’s products apart from other products and companies. 
-    Excellent people skills, desire to learn and enthusiasm for the products we sell.
-    Driver’s license and reliable vehicle.  Reliable and timely arrival at the stores and events in Vermont and nearby areas.
-    Ability to
     o    Build rapport with store staff and everyone you encounter.
     o    Receive, store and hold cold small quantities of food products.
     o    Follow applicable health and sanitation procedures.  Follow safe work practices.
     o    Fill out tasting reports, capturing data on starting and ending inventory, sales and comments from customers and communicate this via email.
     o    Tolerate working near chiller cases in meat department of stores, or at outdoor summer events in hot temperatures.
     o    Work with others well, sometimes in close quarters.
     o    Handle cash with accuracy and trust.
     o    Work independently.
-    Physical requirements
     o    Job requires walking, bending and carrying the kit and/or event tent (up to 30 lbs), carrying and setting up the table, cooking bacon and cleaning kit between tastings.
     o    Stand for up to 4 hours without a break. 
-    Wear VSC clothing (hat, shirt or t-shirt) as requested and overall neat and appropriate appearance for representing the company.
-    Minimum age for employment is 18.

Desired Experience:
-    Food / Retail tasting experience.
-    Sales experience.
-    Experience with natural and gourmet foods, professionally or personally.

-    Competitive Hourly Wage
-    Schedule: Part-time, mostly weekends and some evenings.  Two to six dates per month at four to 10 hours each.
-    Transportation reimbursed at federal mileage rate and travel time paid.
-    Start date during May.


Cleaning Team Leader:  Vermont Smoke and Cure seeks a responsible, diligent leader for our cleaning team.  To allow our production team to start up each morning with the clean processing areas and machinery they require, each evening you will oversee and coach toward excellent results measured at a microbiological level, and help carry out cleaning operations.  Team leadership and foodservice or food processing cleaning experience sought, and relevant transferrable skills will be considered.  Shift is typically 2-11 pm weekdays; one weekend day required most weekends.  Pay depends on experience; benefits.
